What is Moshi Monsters Rewritten?

is an online game for kids, where they can adopt and take care of a friendly monster.

Within the game there are many fun, educational activities for kids to enjoy, such as:

  • Playing games and solving puzzles to earn virtual rewards, called "Rox"
  • Growing and collecting pet ‘Moshlings’ in their garden
  • Socialising with friends and family
  • Reading the latest Moshi news and entering competitions on The Daily Growl blog
  • Completing "Super Moshi" missions
  • Collecting ultra-rare Moshlings
  • Personalising their Monster with custom colours

In fact, many parents (and grandparents) have so much fun helping to look after their children's monster that they adopt their own Moshi Monster Rewritten.

What We Do

For many children, Moshi Monsters Rewritten will be their first experience participating in an online community. Therefore, we take the responsibility of guiding them through this new, exciting adventure very seriously.

We know that kids love to socialise online with their family and friends, so we offer restricted social networking features, all of which we monitor and moderate.

Our staff work around the clock to promote a safe and creative environment for our players, using patented technical tools, state-of-the-art sophisticated content filtering.

How You Can Help

When players join Moshi Monsters Rewritten we ask them to follow our Monster Adoption Rules. By going through these rules with your children, you can help them make the most of their Moshi experience:

  • Keep your personal information personal
This includes your child’s password, real name, address, phone number, email address, pet names, friends and family names, and school name. Be careful not to use any personal information as a Monster Name.
  • Be respectful of other Monster Owners
Players should not be mean, swear or do anything that could make other people feel uncomfortable. Be a good digital citizen.
  • Play fair
Players should be honest and truthful at all times, and stick to the rules.
  • Ask for help
We tell players to talk to you, their parents, if they feel uncomfortable with someone on Moshi Monsters. In addition to our behind the scenes monitoring, kids can report any problem directly to our Moderators by clicking the ‘M’ button on any post in-game, the ‘Report’ button in the Forums, or ‘Contact Us’ at the bottom of every page.

Educational Activities

We passionately believe that children learn best when they’re having fun.

Successfully nurturing a Moshi Monster is no mean feat. It takes a variety of skills that your child can develop over time. Your child will need to think creatively, hypothesise, strategise, manage resources, collaborate with friends, and nurture a wide variety of other skills that could extend positively into their everyday lives.

Children earn "Rox" (the in-game currency which cannot be turned into real money) by solving a wide range of fun daily puzzles with their monster. These puzzles are easy to start with, but become increasingly challenging as the child's skills develop. The puzzles cover a wide range of skills including numeracy, logic, spatial awareness, geography, anagrams, and vocabulary.

Monsters love words and communicate with their Monster Owners regularly via speech bubbles, to encourage reading. Their moods are visually represented and also expressed by a printed word in their virtual room. Since their moods can change regularly, your child has plenty of opportunity to learn new vocabulary. For instance, their monster might be feeling "jubilant" one day, but "melancholy" the next.
