OnePlus 16 Launches in China with Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, 200MP Camera, and 9,000mAh Battery

The OnePlus 16 is official, and it's one of the most interesting phones to launch exclusively in China. It brings the upgrades buyers would expect from a new flagship, including Qualcomm's latest chip, a 200-megapixel main camera, and a significantly larger battery.

A High-Refresh Display with a 185Hz Peak

The OnePlus 16 has a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED screen with a resolution of 1,272 x 2,772 pixels. Its refresh rate is rated at 185Hz, though that figure needs context. In everyday use, the phone runs at 165Hz, and the extra 20Hz is unlocked only in supported games. The panel uses BOE's X4 luminescent material and can dim to 1 nit of hardware brightness. Its bezels measure just 1.15mm, and the display houses an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and a 50MP selfie camera.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and Flexible Memory Options

OnePlus chose Qualcomm's newest flagship processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, to power the device. The base model comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Buyers who want more can configure it with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

A 200MP Main Camera Leads the Setup

The camera system is headlined by a 200MP main sensor with a 1/1.4-inch size. It is joined by a 50MP 3x telephoto lens and a 50MP ultrawide camera, giving the phone a versatile three-camera setup.

Larger Battery, Faster Charging, and ColorOS 17

The most notable change under the hood may be the battery, which grows to 9,000mAh. It supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The phone runs ColorOS 17 out of the box.

Colors, Pricing, and Availability

The OnePlus 16 comes in three colors: Starlight, Dark Forest, and Martian Masterpiece. In China, the base 12GB/256GB model starts at CNY 5,999 (approximately $896), while the top-tier 16GB/1TB version costs CNY 8,499 (approximately $1,270). Open sales in China begin on October 31.

With a high-refresh display, flagship silicon, a 200MP main camera, and a 9,000mAh battery, the OnePlus 16 offers a strong set of specifications for buyers in China.
